Data Handling for Sherwood Scientific Products
Many Sherwood Scientific products have RS232 outputs, which allow data to be captured by serial printer, P.C. or Laptop.
The baud rates for those products are shown.
Sherwood supplies a conveniently small serial printer; rechargeable-battery powered which will work with all products with an RS232 output.
Where a printer option is shown in the table it is also possible for the data to be transferred to a computer with a serial input and with the HyperTerminal mode active (Available in Windows XP/accessories/communications/HyperTerminal). This will show on the computer exactly what would be printed on the serial printer. It is possible to manipulate the data manually by copy and pasting it into e.g. Excel. HyperTerminal is not available as a standard accessory in Windows operating systems released after the XP version.
For a PC with only USB inputs it is possible to use an RS232/USB adapter cable.
For the Programmable FBD and Auto MSB we have software, which can enable computer-guided control and post run data manipulation.
For the MK1 MSB we have a calculation program to convert data into mass susceptibility and we can supply an A/D converter to allow calculation of volume and mass susceptibility.
Other Software Packages:
For the Model 410 Flame Photometer we have two levels of Data handling: RS232 output from a M410 Flame Photometer Digital Interface can be connected to the Serial printer or to a PC hosting the M410 Flame Photometer software package which can be purchased as an option. The M410 Flame Photometer Digital Interface is supplied fitted as standard when a M410 Industrial Flame Photometer or M410 Clinical Flame Photometer is purchased. The M410 Classic Flame Photometer does not come with the Digital Interface but the Interface can be purchased as an option and is easily fitted by the customer.
Both the Model 420 and Model 425 Flame Photometers are supplied with a copy of our M420 software package as standard. Both models can also be connected directly to the serial printer. There is also an Excel Macro, which can accept the raw data from these instruments and array this directly into an Excel spread sheet.
Active Salt: This software application can collect data from our Model 926 Chloride Analysers (and some weighing balances with RS232 output) to simplify the calculation of salt content of processed food products and ingredients. Active Salt is not designed for use with the Model 926S Chloride Analyser.
