Data Handling for Sherwood Scientific Products
Serial Printers
Sherwood Scientific has designed its products with RS232 outputs, which allow
the data to be captured by serial printers.
The baud rates for the products are shown.
Sherwood supplies a conveniently small printer, rechargeable-battery powered
which will work with all products.
Computer Operation
"Hyperterminal" Mode: where a printer option is shown in the table it is also
possible for the data to be transferred to a computer with a serial input and
with the Hyperterminal mode active (This is available in
Windows/accessories/communications/hyperterminal). This will show on the
computer exactly what is on the printer. It is possible to manipulate the data
manually by copy and pasting it into e.g. Excel.
NEW for the Model 410 we now have two levels of Data handling: Printer/Lineariser and
For the Model 420 and Model 425 Flame Photometers we now have an Excel
Macro, which can acccept the raw data from these instruments and array this
directly into an Excel Spreadsheet.
For the Programmable FBD and Auto MSB we have software, which can enable
computer-guided control and post run data manipulation.
For the MK1 MSB we have a calculation program to convert data into mass
susceptibility. We can now supply an A/D coverter to allow automatic calculation
of volume and mass suceptibility.
