MSB FAQ's
Question
Are the MSBs able to measure low temperature samples?
Answer
Neither of our MSBs has temperature control.
It is possible to put hot or cold samples into either instrument and get readings.
There are two problems connected with measurements on such samples - the temperature of the sample will not be constant
while it is in the balance so any temperature dependent magnetic property will be changing AND there are magnets inside
the balance, very close to the sample, whose strength varies with temperature so the reading may change as these are
heated or cooled by the sample. The user would have to make allowance for these effects.
